I kinda have always wanted to DD a first generation Insight. Furthermore I suspect that the Insight will one day be a collectable car.

No you're not weird at all. Before gas prices sky rocketed I wanted one of these cars. It's a thing of beauty. Imagine what they could have done if they actually took this concept to phase two. It was getting almost 60 MPG on the highway back then.

I've often contemplated finding a 1st gen with the manual trans to dd. and then putting funny stickers like F your Prius all over it.

Just checked it and you're correct. And it was a manual transmission. All of this with basic hybrid tech at the time.

It is a pretty impressive little machine. Not sure it would fare will in a crash but cool nevertheless. Unfortunately most have 200,000 miles on them.

This or a Toyota Sera are the two obvious excentric-but-reliable dailies, I'd say and take both of them anytime. The Sera rather, though.
